Traffic accident Cyclist killed by tourism bus in Bantul

A traffic accident involving a tourist bus and a cyclist occurred on Brigadier General Katamso Street, Kadirojo, Palbapang, Bantul, Sunday morning (30/1/2022) at 07.45 WIB. This incident resulted in Goweser Ngatijo (64), a resident of Badegan, Bantul, died at the location.

Kanit Gakkum Satlantas Bantul Police Iptu Maryono said the case began when the Tourism Bus AB 7679 JN headed for New Yogyakarta International Airport (NYIA) Kulonprogo, driven by Karya Santoso (47) a resident of Tirtomartani, Kalasa, Sleman, drove from north to south on Brigadier General Street. Katamso, at the scene of the crime (TKP) intended to overtake the cyclist in front of him, but nudged him, so that the cyclist lost his balance and fell and fell into the bus bat.

"The victim was hit by a bus on the left front of the body. The victim fell under the front wheel while the bicycle fell to the left," he said, Sunday (30/1/2022).

Before the bus stopped, the victim was dragged by the bus wheel for about 10 meters. The victim was found to have died at the scene with serious injuries to the head. The elderly body was then evacuated to Panembahan Senopati Hospital, Bantul.

"This case is still under investigation, the driver along with the bus and bicycle are secured at the Bantul Police Headquarters," he explained.
