Traffic Accident, Mira Bus Hit 6 Cars and 2 Motorbikes at the Banguntapan Ringroad

The traffic accident occurred on the South Ringroad Road or precisely at the Simpang Empat Ketandan, Banguntapan, Bantul, Friday (11/2/2022) night.

The accident occurred at 22:40 WIB. The Mira bus with Police Number S 7262 US hit a number of cars and motorbikes that had stopped at the Ketandan traffic light.

There were no fatalities in this incident, but one driver was injured and material losses reached hundreds of millions of rupiah.

The Head of Banguntapan Police, Kompol Zainal Supriyatna, said that the accident started when the bus driven by Kumaidi (53), a resident of Gaten, Jurangombo, Magelang, Central Java, was traveling from south to north at high speed.

Arriving at the Ketandan traffic light, the bus driver suddenly lost control and crashed into a motorized vehicle in front of him which was stopped at the traffic light. Includes six private cars and two motorbikes.

As well as two motorbikes, each a Yamaha Mio AB 2586 KW driven by Fadli Gilang (22) a resident of Jomblangan, Banguntapan and a Honda Beat BM 6858 KQ driven by Roni Rahmat (23) a resident of Singingi, Riau.

"All motorists involved in this incident survived. Only one motorcycle rider suffered minor injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at Hardjolukito Banguntapan Hospital," he said.

Meanwhile, the damage to the vehicle was quite severe, on average, the rear body was crushed. Losses are estimated at more than Rp. 300 million.

The police chief revealed that he suspected that the accident was due to human error. The bus driver was suspected of being sleepy and when he arrived at the scene, he hit a number of vehicles in front of him.

"What is the cause of this case is still being investigated by the Bantul Police Traffic Unit," he explained.
