Bantul Police arrested AFS (19), a resident of Sonosewu Hamlet, Ngestiharjo Village, Kapanewon Kasihan, Bantul Regency for abusing PLN officers.

The abuse was carried out because AFS did not accept that his house's electricity meter had been cut off due to arrears in paying electricity.

The Head of Criminal Investigation at the Bantul Police, AKP Archye Nevadha SIK MH, explained that the incident began when the perpetrator's family received a letter regarding arrears in electricity payments from PLN on January 20. Because there was no response, on January 25 from PLN again sent a letter which essentially warned homeowners to immediately pay the arrears.

"Then on January 29, PLN came to the residence of the reported party and gave a warning that if the payment is not immediately paid, the electricity will be cut off," said Archye during a press conference at the Bantul Police Headquarters, Sunday (6/2/2022) afternoon.

However, this again did not get a response until finally the victim, ANS (26) and two of his colleagues visited the AFS residence in Sonosewu Hamlet, Ngestiharjo Village, Kapanewon Kasihan, Bantul Regency, Wednesday (2/2/2022) afternoon. Arriving at the AFS house, ANS immediately carried out their duties to cut off the electricity meter.

"Finally, on February 2, PLN officers came to the house, then carried out their duties with the order given from PLN and cut off the electricity meter," he said.

This turned out to make the AFS family did not accept it. In fact, it ended with acts of persecution by AFS against ANS by hitting 3 times and kicking 2 times.

"But when they cut off the electricity meter from the family who lived in the house, to be precise, the child of the family (AFS) abused PLN officers who were carrying out their duties," he said.

As a result, ANS was injured and sent a letter of permission to his office because he could not work. The PLN reported the incident to the Kasihan Police.

"Furthermore, based on the report, we conducted an investigation and examined the witnesses. Alhamdulillah, on February 5, we managed to secure the perpetrator with the initials AFS at his house," he said.

Meanwhile, AFS has admitted all his actions.

"The perpetrator admitted that he had abused the PLN officer who was on duty (cut off the electricity meter at his family's house). From the information, the perpetrator had hit and kicked the victim," he said.

For his actions, AFS was accused of Article 351 of the Criminal Code paragraph 1 regarding persecution.

"For threats against the perpetrators of 2 years and 8 months in prison," he said.
